DanceBrazil is based in the East Midlands city of Nottingham and operates throughout the United Kingdom and Europe. Its Creative Director is Suely Moreira, a Brazilian who wants to share the fascinating colourful culture and diversity of her homeland with people in the UK. Her principal means of doing that is through the medium of dance. The rhythms of Samba and Forró are given physical expression in her careful teaching of steps and routines that will all add up to your falling in love with real Brazilian dance.
Suely comes from a very well known musical family where surrounded by musicians she initially learned Brazilian folklore dances. At the age of eleven she became a member of the Manuel Martins Xaxado dance group and performed throughout the North East of Brazil. Her interest in dance continued with studies in Ballet and Jazz at Academia Lider de Artes, where freqent performances were a significant part of the curriculum.
In the years since, Suely has consolidated her training and refined her techniques and knowledge of the art of dance. More recently she undertook training in Ceará, Brazil with the nationally recognised dance professional, movie choreographer and television personality, Carlinhos de Araújo. She gained the Teaching Certificate in Samba and Forró at the Escola de Dança Carlinhos Araújo.
In case all that dancing isn't enough, Suely maintains her fitness levels and her cultural interest by training each week in the Brazilian martial art Capoeira with the Nottingham based group Cordão de Ouro.
